What is botox?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Commonly known as botox, this is a substance produced by bacteria called botulinum toxin, which acts at a molecular level to block or weaken the muscle\u2019s action. Botox has various uses in medicine. On a cosmetic level it is used to soften the wrinkles between the eyebrows, those on the forehead, crow\u2019s feet and to improve the outline of the eyebrows. It\u2019s also used in other areas of the face. The result of its use is to give a more relaxed and fresher looking face.<\/p>\n

Application<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The manner of application consists, in the first instance, of properly planning the places where it is going to be individually injected. Following on from this we make small injections in the appropriate places.<\/p>\n

Recovery<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Afterwards, the patient can return to their normal daily life immediately. Make-up and creams should not be applied during the first 24 hours. Swimming pools, saunas, sports and strenuous activity should also be avoided during the first 24 hours.<\/p>\n

Duration<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The effect of the treatment with botulinum toxin is not immediate but starts to appear after about 3 to 4 days, reaching its full effect after 10 to 15 days. It lasts between 4 and 6 months depending on the speed of metabolization and each person\u2019s habits. Smoking, exposure to sunlight and intense exercise can reduce the duration of its effects.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, treatment with botox is also a preventive treatment against wrinkles precisely because wrinkles do not form during the months when it is effective, and as such it avoids muscular action during this time. Moreover, it also has the effect of relaxing facial tension and expression. It is a highly satisfactory treatment for both male and female patients.<\/p>\n
